"The Light on the Rock:

Bauline Newfoundland"

A seres for the exhibition "Luminous"

Heliconian Hall, May 2017

These pictures, taken over the course of a week in 2016 in the beautiful village of Bauline,  pays homage to Newfoundland’s outports, which are both remote margins and landing places, rooted deep in the province's history but still vibrant today – finding new ways to live and thrive after the catastrophic collapse of the cod fishery. It seems that, when the sun shines on this island far out east into the Atlantic Ocean amidst the perpetual fog, it has a special luminous quality.
